Final Month

I'm back up in the bay area to help out the movie in the home stretch. Cat and I recorded some audio in the field, our first stop was my mother's house. Much to my surprise, she agreed to talk into the microphone in portuguese - we even got my step-dad to record some audio(we're recording random dialog from people of different age groups and who speak different languages, so that we can create a "bed of sound" that is supposed to symbolize the thoughts from all of the people in the world- pretty basic non-pretentious stuff) Right before we left My aunt Olinda and her daughter Jessica stopped by, so we were able to add two more voices to the list.

One of the cool experiences I've had working on this movie is being able to work with my teacher from Ohlone College, Tom. I've always had great respect for him and the fact that he was willing to be a part of my movie is a great honor that I will always treasure. Well we went to Ohlone and got him to record some more audio for the movie, it was fun- and I'm always reminded on the great experience I had at that school every time I come back over there.

That evening I went to San Jose to meet up with Muller and Anderson, they had been working on fake tv audio to play in the background of a few scenes. A beer commercial came out of there session that is nothing short of legendary. I'm going to try to get it up on the website soon.

Another Day, ... a nother day

Back in the bat cave, John's fixing a computer issue. It seems like most of the time spent on a movie project is just fixing problems. We've got the movie editing to our liking (at least for now), we're now in the process of adding the foley, sound design, music, special effects, and color correction. Anderson and Batstone are coming up Wednesday to see the movie for any last minute suggestions before we get to deep into the process. Batstone is going to hook up with Muller to record some ADR as well.

It's a really exciting period because at this point in the process every bit of work done during this period really shows. John put a rough teaser trailer up on his website and we've got some really positive feedback.

After Wednesday, I'm heading back home to LA for a week for some much needed time spent with my wife Katie. I'm going to be really anxious being out of the loop for a week, but it's probably good for the project for me to get my meddling hands away for a little bit.

Trying the blog thing

I'm sitting in the editing cave while John jams on his guitar - we're waiting for video to render.

We're just about done with the final rough cut, after today all we will have left is color correction, sound design, music and special effects. We're hoping to have this thing completed by June, I'm trying to remain optimistic, but we still have a lot to do.
